10 reasons to go Vegan
1. When we use and abuse animals they can feel it. They have
pain sensors and lives just like us. Why should our difference
in intelligence or physical ability allow us to abuse
them? We do not, afterall, abuse the weak or the
stupid!
2. Plenty of alternatives exist now so you don't have to eat/use any animal products. From meat alternatives and faux leather to dairy-free cheese, its not hard anymore. Times are changing and companies are bringing out new Vegan products everyday.
3. Cutting out products means living healthier, cutting your risk of heart disease, diabeties, stroke and several types of cancer. In every respect Vegans appear to enjoy equal or better health in comparrison to both Vegetarians and non-Vegetarians.
4. Over 10 times less resources are needed to live on a Vegan diet, as animals need to be fed many times their worth as food, to be raised. Meat is often known as food for the rich as it is wasteful and used by rich countries, whilst others in poorer countries starve.
5. The meat industry creates more greenhouse emissions than ALL the worlds transport combined.
6. In addition, the meat industry is: "One of the top two or three most significant contributers to the most serious environmental problems at every scale from global to local." The UN.
7. No matter how "Free Range" your eggs are when buying them you still support nearly every male chick being shredded or gased alive at birth, because the industry can make no profit out of them. And a similar fate for the laying hens, those who produce your food for you when they can lay no more. In each egg exists this ugly fact.
8. Similarly, in each glass of milk, or dairy product, there is a slice of veal. Like us, cows only lactate when they need to, so we have to make them pregnant, but if the calf gets their milk, then we don't and of course we have to make money out of the new calf as well, some how- so the awful veal business is born. It's an intricately connected set of industry's- and vegetarianism alone isn't the solution.
9. Because "All the arguments to prove mans superiority can not shatter this hard fact-in suffering the animals are our equals". And we have no right to cause any needless suffering- human or non-human.
10. It's the right thing to do
If you care about anything, there's no excuse for not doing it, all the reasons here show that, so why not give it a go! It's so much easier than you think!
